Payment must be received at time of enrollment
All online Lessons must be completed prior to the start to class
Cost: $ 150.00 + $35.00 Certificate Fee (certificate fee charged at the time of online registration) per student.
Lifeguard Training includes CPR for the professional Rescuer / AED and First Aid . This is a blended learning class with an e-learning component, so students must have a computer and internet access available. In person skill sessions are combined with eLearning and students must come to the skill sessions fully prepared having completed the online material.
Students must possess the Lifeguard Manual (Free electronic version available for download online at www.redcross.org) and also possess a whistle and pocket mask (available for purchase at the pool)
In Person Skill Sessions:
Pre-Course: Friday, May 18 6pm-7pm
Lessons 1-4: Saturday, May 19th 9am-6pm
Lessons 5-9: Sunday, May 20th 9am-6pm
Lesson 1 Test-Out: Saturday, May 26th, 10am-2pm
Objective: To provide entry level lifeguard students with knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies and provide care for injuries and sudden illness until Emergency Medical Services arrive and take over.
Pre-requisite: Must be at least 15 yrs. old to participate. Swim 300 yards (12 laps) continuously using these strokes in the following order:
1. 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing propellant kick
2. 100 yards of breast stroke using a pull, breath and glide sequence
3. 100 yards of either front crawl or breast stroke (May be a combination of both)
4. Must be able to dive 7 feet and retrieve 10 lb. brick, swim 20 yds. and exit pool
5. 2 Minute tread using legs only (hands out of the water or under the armpits)
